Bereavement

The period following a death is a difficult time. There are decisions to be made regarding personal effects.  You will require legal documentation to confirm you are the legal executor and have the right to dispose of the deceased possessions.  If the deceased had a vehicle there are a number of steps that will need to be followed, these are for guidance only and professional assistance should be sort:
The vehicle insurance company will need to be notified as the policy covering the vehicle will no longer be valid.  You may need to move the vehicle - please ensure your policy enables you to do this legally. Temporary insurance cover may be required.
The DVLA will need to be notified that the owner is now deceased. They will be able to advise you regarding the vehicle’s excise duty (vehicle tax).
If the vehicle is subject to a financial agreement, the finance company will need to be notified.
If applicable, breakdown cover will also need to be cancelled.
A valuation of the vehicle will be required.

How does out service work?

Once you have entered the vehicle details online one of our compassionate team here at WeBuyCarsToday will contact you and will be happy to guide you through the purchase and collection of the vehicle.
They will arrange for one of our representatives to come out to road test the vehicle.  At the time of the visit the documents/items listed below will be required:

Documented evidence to confirm you are the legal executor

  •  V5 logbook (this does not need to be changed from the deceased name)
  •  MOT certificate
  •  Service history
  •  Vehicle keys
  •  Photographic proof of ID
  •  Utility bill in the same address as the V5

The vehicle must be road legal - vehicle excise duty (vehicle tax) will not be required as we are able to drive the vehicle using our trade licence plates.
Following the test drive, we will contact you to arrange to purchase and collect the vehicle.
